![]() ![]() Linux Kernel 6.2 Officially Released, This Is What’s New Linux kernel 6.2 is now available for download. If you get an image or download images in AVIF format from the web, Most of the default image viewers can’t show the thumbnail. One downside to this newer image file format is that most Linux distributions have not yet implemented support for AVIF. The size of an AVIF image is smaller than a WebP, but the quality remains intact. ![]() The new image file system, AVIF, is becoming increasingly popular because it compresses images without compromising quality. In order to reduce file size without compromising quality, the WebP image format was created and is already supported by Linux systems. With PNGs offer higher quality images but at a larger size, while JPEGs provide lower quality images but with smaller sizes. However, when compared side-by-side, it’s easy to see that there are tradeoffs between quality and image size. Out of all the image file formats available, PNG and JPEG are two of the most common.
